Our trip Upstate
Charlie and I had a wonderful time visiting family in upstate New York. It is just beautiful up there this time of year.
I also had a great cake that a coworker made. I will share the recipe with you, although I have no idea what the cake is called.
Let's just call it Coconut Devil's Food (although the coconut is barely noticeable):
1 box Devil's Food Cake mix (plus all ingredients listed on back)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 can cream of coconut
1 tub cool whip
1. Make cake according to directions on box in a 9x13 casserole dish.
2. When it cools a bit, poke a lot of holes in the top of the cake with a toothpick.
3. Mix the milk and cream of coconut and pour all over the cake and smooth until it fills in the holes.
4. After all the creaminess soaks in, put the cool whip on top.
5. Keep refrigerated. It's delicious and simple, I promise.
Okay, now for photos of our trip-

He loved to play outside, and he especially loved to play with his cousin. |
Look at that green grass! We just don't have that color in Georgia. |

Sorry for the long pause...
I know it's been a while. This first trimester isn't treating me any better than Charlie did. Hopefully the sickness will wear off in another month or so.
Here are some photos of what life has been like recently.

Mom got Charlie this fancy Cookie Monster pumpkin. He is a pretty big fan. |
Grandma Jean and Grandpa Carl got Charlie this adorable chair. He thinks he is hot stuff. He carries it with him from room to room. |
Mike, Johnny's brother is staying with us for a bit. Charlie thinks he is a grand playmate. |
Johnny had this plastic tarp out from painting and Charlie thought it was a fun ride, as did the kitty. |
He is also very into climbing these days. Johnny built him a mountain to scale. |
Anything to keep him busy so Mom can rest. |

More of St. Augustine
There were so many wonderful photos from this weekend I just had to do another post! At least my family will appreciate it.

St. Augustine
This weekend we make a quick trip to St. Augustine for a wedding. Johnny performed his second wedding, this time for his brother, Moose. It was a beautiful wedding and the weather could not have been more perfect. Below are some photos from the weekend.

Secret Church, 1st Meeting
We had our first meeting of Secret Church at our house. No, we aren't doing anything clandestine. We are watching "How to Study the Bible," a Secret Church series by David Platt. They are located here http://www.disciplemakingintl.org/media/schurch/?cur_tab=series, if anyone wants to watch them. I highly recommend them. The goal of this study is to teach us how to study the Bible so that we can go out and teach others to study the Bible, in turn, making disciples.
I am so excited about our church's deep growth in Christ! The Holy Spirit is powerful!

Happy Birthday Papa!
This weekend we celebrated Papa's 79th birthday! Since he made such a fabulous Milky Way Cake for my birthday, I thought I should make his birthday cake in return. But he didn't want a cake. He wanted a pie and ice cream. So I made an apple pie with apples from New York and a homemade crust. I also made caramel pecan ice cream. I forgot the caramel sauce at the store so I had to experiment and make my own. I will never buy caramel sauce again. The ice cream was the best I've ever had. Really.
Papa approved! |
To the Grandparents House
We decided to start a blog
Well, okay, I decided to start a blog, and Johnny agreed. Not sure how long this will go on. If it is anything like my other endeavors, I will post every day for two weeks, then never touch it again for three months. Internet technological advances (such as twitter and facebook) have never been my strongsuit. I realize I am probably way behind the times starting a blog, but it is uncharted territory for me.
Why did I decide to start this blog?
Two reasons:
1) I finally broke down and bought the Canon DSLR I have been putting off since Charlie was born (used of course) and I needed some place to post all the pictures I am taking.
2) Our family is striving to mature in our walk with the Lord and I want to share our progress and solicit advice. We are a young family and I need all the godly wisdom I can get.
So help me stick this out and hopefully we will all receive some blessings from it. (Although I realize that only my Aunt Moe loves me enough to actually read it.)
(And please enjoy my photos of Charlie, I really do! These are my first download from my new Canon Rebel.)
Note: I am hoping as time goes on to figure out how to do more of a photo collage, rather than photos just dragging on down the page. I know it can be done, I am just not there yet.

No, we aren't doing Halloween. This was in a bag of hand-me-downs we were going through and Charlie wanted to try it out. |
Then he changed his mind... |
So he went to watch Veggie Tales, in his fancy shoes. |
The boy is serious about his Veggie Tales! |
And about his shoes! |
Okay, this isn't Charlie, but I thought Moe would like to see a photo of Cece. |
